NTRA Report: Entertainment Apps Soar in Egypt as Short-Form Video Usage Jumps 60% in 2026

The National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) has released its latest data on internet consumption patterns, revealing a massive 60% surge in the use of entertainment content applications compared to 2025. The 2026 figures indicate a decisive shift toward short-form video content, with platforms like Kwai and Likee leading the charge. This trend highlights the growing appetite for rapid, interactive digital experiences among Egyptian users, who are increasingly favoring bite-sized entertainment over traditional long-form media.

According to the NTRA, this spike is a direct result of improved mobile infrastructure and the widespread adoption of high-speed 5G services, which launched commercially in late 2025. The authority noted that entertainment now accounts for a significant portion of daily data consumption, prompting service providers to rethink data package structures to accommodate the high demand for video streaming and social interaction.
