Huawei and AIS Partner to Localize Manufacturing of Advanced Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) in Egypt
In a landmark move for Egypt’s industrial sector, Huawei and AIS have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to establish local manufacturing for Grid-Forming Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). This partnership directly supports Egypt’s national vision to localize high-tech industries and transition toward a sustainable energy future. By producing these advanced systems domestically, the collaboration aims to strengthen the national supply chain, foster technology transfer, and create specialized job opportunities within the renewable energy sector.
Tony Bu, CEO of Huawei Egypt Digital Power, highlighted that the partnership is a critical pillar of Huawei’s commitment to Egypt’s energy security. Meanwhile, Karim Arafa, CEO of AIS, stated that the initiative moves beyond simple assembly to building a "sustainable homegrown ecosystem" for BESS solutions. As Egypt ramps up its renewable energy capacity, these locally manufactured systems will play a vital role in ensuring grid stability and managing the increasing demand for green power across the country.
