Valeo CEO: Egypt AI Development Center Marks Strategic Milestone in Global AI Integration
Christophe Périllat, CEO of Valeo, described the launch of the company’s artificial intelligence (AI) development center in Egypt as a “key strategic milestone” aligned with Valeo’s global vision to integrate AI across all engineering activities.
“Over the past two decades, Valeo Egypt has emerged as a leading hub for high-value engineering and innovation,” Périllat said. “The launch of this AI development center represents a pivotal step in our global strategy, which is centered on embedding artificial intelligence across all engineering domains, particularly software development in Egypt.”
The new center joins Valeo’s global AI ecosystem, which includes more than 200 AI experts worldwide, in addition to a dedicated research center focused on advancing artificial intelligence technologies.
Périllat added that the move represents a strategic turning point in Valeo’s expansion of AI operations in Cairo, enabling local talent to accelerate development cycles, significantly enhance capabilities, and support the delivery of more competitive products to global markets.
The announcement came during the inauguration of the AI center by Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Raafat Hindi, in the Smart Village, attended by senior officials including Ahmed Elzaher, CEO of ITIDA, and Tamer Ali, Vice President of Engineering Centers and Managing Director of Valeo Egypt.
Valeo Egypt engineers play a critical role in developing core software for next-generation mobility technologies, including autonomous driving systems, automated parking, digital cockpit solutions, electric powertrain systems, and smart lighting technologies. These innovations are powered by advanced capabilities such as artificial intelligence, algorithm development, model-based design, deep learning, data science, and cloud computing.
The company’s Egyptian engineering teams have also demonstrated strong capabilities in delivering innovative solutions and securing patents in advanced technology fields, highlighting the global competitiveness of local talent.
The inauguration was attended by Christophe Luneau, Valeo Group R&D Director, and François Marion, Vice President of Communications, Marketing, and Sustainability, along with senior officials from the Ministry of Communications and ITIDA.
