71% of Egyptian Firms to Invest in Supply Chain Cyber Defense Amid Rising ”Trusted Relationship” Attacks
A new study by Kaspersky reveals a significant shift in the Egyptian corporate landscape, with 71% of companies planning to invest in the cybersecurity of their third-party suppliers and contractors. The report highlights that 25% of Egyptian firms have already begun sharing the financial burden of security measures with their partners. This proactive stance comes as "Supply Chain" and "Trusted Relationship" attacks continue to surge globally, impacting one in three and one in four companies, respectively, over the past year.
Sergey Soldatov, Head of Security Operations Center at Kaspersky, noted that modern cybersecurity no longer ends at a company’s perimeter. As large enterprises grant digital access to smaller vendors—who often lack advanced defense capabilities—the entire ecosystem becomes vulnerable. The study, which surveyed over 1,700 technical experts across 16 countries including Egypt, suggests that resource-sharing between major corporations and their suppliers is becoming a critical tool for building national cyber resilience and mitigating external infrastructure risks.
