Egypt to Launch IPOs for Banque du Caire and Misr Life Insurance in Q2 2026, Minister Reveals at IMF Meetings

Egypt’s Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Dr. Mohamed Farid, has unveiled a definitive timeline for the country’s landmark IPO program. Speaking during the IMF and World Bank Spring Meetings in Washington, Farid announced that executive steps have commenced for the public offerings of Banque du Caire and Misr Life Insurance, scheduled for May and June 2026. This move is part of a broader strategy to revitalize the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) and increase private sector participation in the economy.

In addition to the financial sector divestments, the Minister disclosed plans to prepare six high-performing state-owned enterprises across diverse sectors for future listings. A significant proposal being evaluated involves merging several oil and gas assets into a single "high-liquidity" entity to attract major global investment funds. Dr. Farid emphasized that the full coordination between fiscal and monetary policies remains a primary guarantee for investors, ensuring a stable and predictable business environment.
