Agricultural Bank of Egypt and e-finance Sign Landmark MoU to Revolutionize Rural Digital Banking
The Agricultural Bank of Egypt (ABE) has signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with e-finance for Digital and Financial Investments to accelerate the deployment of innovative financial solutions across Egypt. The agreement aims to modernize the nation’s agricultural sector by transforming the "Fellah Card" (Farmer Card) into a comprehensive electronic payment tool. This initiative allows farmers to conduct daily transactions, access credit, and connect with markets via a secure digital ecosystem, reinforcing ABE’s role as the primary financial backbone for Egypt’s rural economy.
Mohamed Abu El-Saoud, CEO of ABE, and Ibrahim Sarhan, Chairman and Managing Director of e-finance, finalized the agreement in the presence of senior officials from both entities. The partnership extends beyond agriculture, targeting pensioners, university students, and freelancers through specialized digital platforms. By integrating e-finance’s robust technological infrastructure with ABE’s extensive banking expertise, the collaboration seeks to foster a cashless society and broaden the scope of financial inclusion in alignment with Egypt’s national digital strategy.
