Egypt Surges to 9th Globally in Freelancing with Over 850,000 Independent Professionals
Egypt has officially entered the top 10 global rankings for freelancing, securing the 9th position worldwide, according to the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Eng. Raafat Hindy. Speaking at a graduation ceremony for the "Digital Egypt Generations" initiative, the Minister revealed that the number of active Egyptian freelance accounts has surpassed 850,000, marking a rapid ascent from 15th place just a few years ago.
This growth highlights the success of national digital literacy programs in transitioning from local job seeking to global service exportation. Eng. Hindy emphasized that the ministry’s initiatives are designed to equip youth not only with technical expertise but also with the project management and soft skills required to compete on over 30 global digital platforms. As a burgeoning economic sector, freelancing is now a key driver for individual income growth and a strategic source of foreign currency through high-value digital exports.
