MWC Barcelona 2026 Concludes Landmark 20th Edition with Record 105,000 Attendees
The GSMA has successfully wrapped up the 20th anniversary edition of MWC Barcelona, recording a historic turnout of approximately 105,000 participants from 207 countries and territories. Held at the Fira de Barcelona – Gran Via, the event solidified its status as the world’s premier ecosystem for connectivity and digital innovation, despite global travel challenges. This year’s theme centered on the transformative power of Open AI, the monetization of 5G capabilities, and the critical fight against cybercrime and fraud.
John Hoffman, CEO of GSMA Ltd., reflected on two decades of collaboration with the host city, noting that the event has consistently exceeded expectations as a global launchpad for growth. The 2026 edition featured 2,900 exhibitors and 1,700 expert speakers, with a significant executive presence—40% of whom were C-suite leaders. Furthermore, the 4YFN (Four Years From Now) startup platform attracted over 1,000 startups and investors representing an estimated €70 billion in assets, highlighting the massive capital flowing into the next generation of digital talent.
