Egypt and bp Discuss Strategic Expansion and Red Sea Exploration at EGYPES 2026
On the sidelines of the Egypt Energy Show (EGYPES 2026), Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Eng. Karim Badawi, held high-level talks with William Lin, bp’s Executive Vice President for Gas & Low Carbon Energy. The meeting focused on accelerating bp’s current projects and exploring future expansions in natural gas production and exploration.
Minister Badawi reiterated the government's commitment to settling all partner arrears by June 30, 2026, a move aimed at bolstering international confidence and incentivizing global majors like bp to scale their Egyptian operations. In response, William Lin affirmed bp’s long-standing partnership with Egypt, expressing particular interest in the Ministry’s comprehensive digital transformation program and the promising untapped opportunities in the Red Sea. Both parties emphasized that continuous government support is vital for securing sustainable energy resources and achieving shared strategic goals.
