Kaspersky Study: 84% of Users Digitizing Sensitive Data; Experts Mandate ”3-2-1” Backup Strategy
A new study by Kaspersky reveals a massive shift toward digital dependency, with 84% of users now storing sensitive personal, financial, and health information in digital formats. The research highlights a generational divide, noting that Gen Z and Millennials lead the digital adoption, while over a third of users aged 55+ still cling to physical paperwork.
Despite this digital surge, security remains a critical vulnerability. With 36% of users relying on weak passwords, Kaspersky experts are urging the adoption of the "3-2-1" backup rule: maintaining three copies of data on two different media types, with one stored off-site or in the cloud. Marina Titova, VP of Consumer Business at Kaspersky, emphasized that effective protection requires a systematic approach, including automated backups, Two-Factor Authentication (2FA), and the use of dedicated password managers to mitigate the growing risks of identity theft and data loss.
