Egypt’s Education Ministry Issues Safety Protocols Following School Suspension in Greater Cairo
The Ministry of Education and Technical Education has issued an urgent clarification following decisions by the governors of Cairo, Giza, and Qalyubia to suspend classes due to unstable weather conditions. The statement addresses situations where students had already arrived at school before the suspension orders were finalized.
Minister Mohamed Abdel Latif has directed all schools in the three governorates to continue the school day for students whose parents are unable to collect them immediately. The Minister explicitly prohibited the administration of any exams during this period. Furthermore, strict instructions were issued to ensure no student is left outside school premises, emphasizing that schools must remain responsible for student safety until they are safely handed over to their legal guardians.
