Egyptian Ministers Discuss Boosting Investment in Data Centers Amid Digital Transformation Drive
The discussion emphasized Egypt’s strategic advantages in becoming a leading regional hub for data center investments, including advanced fiber-optic infrastructure, reliable energy supply, and a skilled workforce of IT professionals. Dr. Esmat highlighted the state’s efforts to create an investment-friendly environment, ensure sustainable energy supply, and expand renewable energy use as part of the national energy strategy, targeting over 42% renewable energy by 2030 and 65% by 2040.
Eng. Hendy noted that data centers are critical to digital transformation, enabling efficient AI and digital service operations while supporting the government and private sector. Both ministries agreed to form a joint task force to develop a comprehensive strategy, including investment incentives, streamlined licensing, renewable energy adoption, and advanced technology deployment to enhance operational efficiency and sustainability.
The meeting was attended by senior officials from both ministries, including heads of strategic planning, digital transformation, telecommunications regulation, and technology project management.
