Raafat Hindi Explores Digital Skills Cooperation with IE University to Empower Youth in Advanced Technologies
Raafat Hindi, Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, held a meeting with Diego del Alcázar Benjumea, CEO of IE University, and his accompanying delegation to explore prospects for cooperation in developing digital skills and empowering youth in advanced technology fields.
The discussions focused on launching joint programs to build digital capacities and prepare young professionals in ICT sectors in line with global labor market demands, with particular emphasis on advanced technologies, innovation, and entrepreneurship skills.
IE University is recognized as one of Spain’s leading international private universities, ranked among top European institutions, with campuses in Madrid and Segovia. The university is globally known for its focus on innovation, entrepreneurship, and international education, hosting students from more than 130 countries.
It offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in English across multiple disciplines, with a growing focus on digital transformation and the knowledge economy. Its ICT-related programs include computer science and artificial intelligence, data science, software engineering, cybersecurity, and digital technologies, all aimed at equipping students with advanced technical and innovative skills.
During the meeting, Minister Raafat Hindi emphasized that developing digital capabilities is a national priority for the Egyptian government and a key pillar of Egypt’s Digital Strategy. He highlighted Egypt University of Informatics (EUI) as a leading academic institution established through joint efforts between the Ministries of Communications and Higher Education, offering internationally aligned programs in ICT.
He added that efforts to enhance digital skills extend to various age groups and disciplines through multiple training initiatives, including the “Digital Egypt Generations” programs, which provide diverse learning models such as in-person training, blended learning, and online education, with a strong focus on artificial intelligence and emerging technologies.
For his part, Diego del Alcázar Benjumea described Egypt as a promising market for the university, expressing interest in expanding cooperation with Egyptian institutions, companies, and universities. He noted that IE University has Egyptian alumni working across both public and private sectors.
He also highlighted the university’s role in fostering innovation and entrepreneurship, including organizing the global South Summit, one of the world’s leading entrepreneurship events that brings together top investors and startups. He invited the Egyptian minister to attend the upcoming edition scheduled to take place in Madrid next June, while expressing interest in exploring the possibility of hosting a future edition in Egypt.
The meeting also reviewed the Ministry’s efforts to collaborate with industry partners to deliver specialized training programs, support innovation and entrepreneurship, and foster startup growth through Digital Innovation Hubs across the country. Discussions further covered academic cooperation opportunities, including student exchange programs and scholarships for Egyptian students.
