Gold Prices in Egypt Decline Ahead of Monday Trading as Markets Await New Rates
Egypt’s local gold market is awaiting the start of trading on Monday, March 22, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., following a downward trend in gold prices observed before the close of Sunday’s session.
Gold prices in Egypt recorded a decline across various carats by the end of Sunday, reflecting ongoing fluctuations in the local market.
For newly sold gold (retail prices), 24-karat gold was priced at EGP 7,885 per gram, while 21-karat gold—the most widely traded—stood at EGP 6,900. Meanwhile, 18-karat gold reached EGP 5,914, and 14-karat gold was ed at EGP 4,600.
As for the gold pound (21-karat), it was ed at EGP 55,200 in jewelry shops before the close of Sunday. The gold pound weighs 8 grams and reflects the value of raw gold only, excluding workmanship, taxes, and stamp duty.
In the used gold (buying) market, prices were slightly lower. 24-karat gold recorded EGP 7,828 per gram, while 21-karat gold reached EGP 6,850. 18-karat gold stood at EGP 5,871, and 14-karat gold was priced at EGP 4,566.
Market participants are closely watching price movements as trading resumes, amid expectations of continued volatility driven by global gold trends and currency fluctuations.
