Egypt’s Supply Minister Discusses Digital Inspection and Market Classification System with Prime Business Consulting

Dr. Sherif Farouk, Egypt’s Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, held discussions with Prime Business Consulting on potential cooperation to develop an integrated digital system for market inspection and classification of retail outlets and commodity trading points. The initiative comes as part of the ministry’s strategy to strengthen market oversight through modern technological tools.

During the meeting, participants reviewed a comprehensive proposal to establish an advanced digital platform for managing inspection and regulatory operations. The proposed system would rely on digital data analytics to enhance field monitoring efficiency and improve market supervision mechanisms, while reinforcing governance principles within Egypt’s internal trade framework.

Both sides also discussed launching a digital classification system for commercial and supply-related activities based on specific criteria designed to measure compliance and discipline within the marketplace. The system would enable authorities to assess the performance of retail outlets and encourage traders to adhere to regulatory standards governing trading practices and pricing policies.

The meeting further addressed the integration of citizens into the community oversight framework through the “Hakki” program, which allows citizens to submit complaints and feedback through digital platforms linked directly to field inspection systems. This approach aims to accelerate response times and improve the quality of services provided to the public.

Discussions also covered the integration of the new system with several digital platforms currently under development within the ministry. These include the “Price Radar” system for real-time monitoring of market price movements, as well as the digital “Inspector Card” application that supports and documents field inspection activities electronically, enhancing transparency and improving regulatory efficiency.

Minister Farouk emphasized that the ministry places significant importance on modernizing market oversight tools through advanced technology to achieve stronger governance within the internal trade system and enhance market management efficiency.

He noted that involving citizens in monitoring and oversight processes represents a key pillar for strengthening trust between the public and state institutions, improving service quality, and ensuring more efficient and transparent market regulation.

Farouk added that the development of digital inspection and monitoring systems will enable real-time tracking of market conditions, accelerate decision-making processes, and enhance the government’s ability to address any negative practices that could affect market stability or consumer rights.

For its part, Prime Business Consulting expressed its pride in cooperating with the Ministry of Supply, reaffirming its commitment to providing the technical and advisory expertise required to support the development of the digital monitoring and oversight system in line with international best practices in governance and market management.
