Mastercard Signs MoU with the Bank of Ukraine to Strengthen Financial Sector Cyber Resilience
U.S.-based payments technology company Mastercard has announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Bank of Ukraine aimed at strengthening the resilience of Ukraine’s financial sector against cyber threats and supporting the protection of the country’s financial infrastructure.
The agreement was reached within the framework of cooperation between the two institutions. Serhiy Nikolaychuk, First Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine, and Oleksii Shaban, Deputy Governor of the central bank, held a meeting with Ilka Campbell, Executive Vice President for the Public Sector at Mastercard, along with Inga Andrieieva, the company’s Country Manager for Ukraine and Moldova, to discuss key areas of collaboration in cybersecurity.
Oleksii Shaban emphasized that strengthening the financial sector’s resilience against cyberattacks is essential to ensuring financial stability and the continuity of financial services. He noted that expanding cooperation with an international partner such as Mastercard will enhance the ability of Ukrainian financial institutions to address current cyber threats and elevate the protection of financial infrastructure to a more advanced level.
Under the memorandum, both parties will coordinate efforts to improve the Ukrainian financial system’s capacity to respond to digital risks. The partnership will also support the effective implementation of international cybersecurity standards, accelerate innovation, and drive digital transformation in financial services.
