Egypt’s ICT Minister Discusses Digital Development Projects with New Valley Governor

Engineer Raafat Hindi, Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, held talks with Hanan Magdy, Governor of the New Valley, to review the progress of ongoing technology projects implemented in cooperation between the ministry and the governorate.

The meeting also discussed ways to strengthen joint collaboration to leverage information and communications technology (ICT) in improving the quality of services provided to citizens across the New Valley Governorate.

During the meeting, Minister Raafat Hindi reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to enabling all governorates to maximize the benefits of technology in supporting development plans. He highlighted the importance of cooperation with the New Valley Governorate, noting that several areas of collaboration could contribute to deploying modern technologies to improve government services and accelerate digital transformation in the governorate.

The minister added that cooperation also includes implementing digital capacity-building programs to qualify young people for the labor market, in addition to supporting efforts to develop digital infrastructure and enhance telecommunications services provided to citizens.

For her part, Governor Hanan Magdy stressed that cooperation with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology represents a key pillar in supporting the state’s efforts to achieve comprehensive digital transformation.

She noted that the governorate is keen to expand digital services and develop technological infrastructure in order to improve the quality of services delivered to citizens and facilitate access to government services.

During the meeting, both sides reviewed the current status of ICT Ministry projects aimed at developing the governorate’s digital infrastructure, with the goal of improving the efficiency of mobile networks and fixed internet services.

The discussions also addressed strengthening technological connectivity and establishing an electronic file management system within the governorate’s general office. This includes linking the main administrative office with the governorate’s five administrative centers through a unified information network.

Additionally, the meeting explored cooperation in digital transformation and administrative modernization through the creation of an electronic correspondence and document management system, shared databases among different departments, and training employees to use modern digital systems.

The two sides also discussed plans to further develop the New Valley Governorate’s official digital portal and improve the quality of online services provided to citizens. These initiatives aim to support digital transformation efforts, automate government services, enhance government efficiency, and improve public service delivery.

The meeting also highlighted the ministry’s role in supporting institutional development within the governorate through the reengineering of government service processes in cooperation with private sector partners.
