Egypt’s Minister of Communications Witnesses ICTBALL 2026 Finale as Telecom Egypt Claims Fifth Consecutive Title

Under the theme “Support Your Company Team”, Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Eng. Raafat Hendi, attended the grand finale of the Ramadan ICTBALL 2026, marking the 18th edition of the annual sports tournament for the communications and IT sector. The event saw the crowning of Telecom Egypt as champions for the fifth consecutive year, following a competitive match against the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), who finished in second place. The National Telecommunications Institute (NTI) team secured third place, while Egypt Trust claimed fourth.
The closing ceremony featured prominent figures from the sector, including Ahmed Badawi, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Communications and IT, Eng. Ahmed El-Zaher, CEO of ITIDA, Eng. Tamer El-Mahdy, CEO of Telecom Egypt, Dr. Ahmed Khattab, Head of NTI, and a number of media personalities including Osama Kamal. Other notable attendees included Eng. Mohamed Kiwan of Egypt Trust, Eng. Mahmoud Tawfik of Fixed Solutions, Khaled Ibrahim of the IT Industry Chamber, Eng. Ayman El-Gohary, IT expert, Eng. Mohamed Salem of SECO, Ahmed Sarhan, member of the Parliamentary Communications Committee, and Marwa Abdel-Meguid, Head of Media and Communications at Orange Egypt.
This year’s tournament saw participation from over 30 local and international companies, as well as several government entities, reflecting the sector’s collaborative spirit. The event was supported by platinum sponsors including e-Finance Group, Raya Trade, Capgemini, Dell Technologies, Orange, F5, and Egypt Trust, demonstrating the technology community’s commitment to sporting and social initiatives that foster teamwork and networking. Gold and silver sponsors included Telecom Egypt, Egyptian National Post Organization, Benaa Group, Trend Micro, Mercury Communications, E&Egypt, and SECO, highlighting the broader sector’s investment in employee engagement beyond the workplace.
In his keynote speech, Eng. Raafat Hendi emphasized that the Ramadan ICTBALL tournament has become a hallmark event that reflects the spirit of cooperation and integration among all sector employees. He highlighted that Egypt’s ICT sector operates as “one unified team” with a shared vision to support the nation’s digital transformation and strengthen Egypt’s position in the technology industry. The minister added that initiatives like this tournament foster human connections, sportsmanship, and collaborative spirit across companies, government entities, and the Ministry itself.
The organizing committee noted that the minister’s presence at the closing ceremony underscores the government’s strong support for the ICT community and its activities. They expressed appreciation for the wide participation of companies and institutions, stressing that the 18th edition of the tournament has become an annual tradition promoting healthy competition, networking, and team spirit. The committee also emphasized their commitment to further enhancing the tournament each year, ensuring stronger organization and higher standards befitting the sector’s stature in Egypt.
Highlighting the importance of sponsorship, the committee stated that contributions from platinum, gold, and silver sponsors reflect the ICT sector’s recognition of the value of sports and social initiatives in building an integrated work environment. The tournament has thus evolved from a sporting event into a platform for networking, partnership-building, and fostering a collaborative culture.
The 2026 edition of ICTBALL witnessed exceptional organization, refereeing, and media coverage, culminating in a ceremony that celebrated winning teams and recognized sponsors for their pivotal role in the event’s success. Participating teams represented leading governmental bodies and private companies, including Raya Systems, NTI, National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA), E&Egypt, ITIDA, Connecta, Trend Micro, and corporate teams from Noventek, SEE, GotChat, CYLERT, among others.
