NTRA Directs Mobile Operators to Grant Free International Minutes for Calls to Selected Arab Countries
National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) has issued directives to mobile network operators operating in the Egyptian market to grant free international calling minutes to subscribers for selected Arab countries, enabling citizens to check on their families and loved ones abroad.
Under the directive, each mobile subscriber will receive five free international minutes that can be used to place calls to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar, the Kingdom of Bahrain, the State of Kuwait, and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
The decision comes as part of NTRA’s commitment to supporting citizens and facilitating continuous communication with relatives abroad, particularly in light of current regional developments affecting a number of Arab countries.
NTRA reaffirmed that it is closely monitoring regional developments and will continue to take the necessary regulatory measures, in coordination with mobile operators, to ensure that citizens receive effective and secure telecommunications services.
