Google Unveils Gemini AI Updates on Android to Automate Daily Tasks with Enhanced Security
Google announced new updates to its Gemini AI system on Android devices, designed to help users automate daily tasks more efficiently and seamlessly.
The updates enable multi-step task automation, such as requesting rides via transportation apps or completing food and grocery orders. Initially, this feature is supported in a limited set of apps and remains in an experimental phase. The capabilities are available exclusively on Pixel 10 and Pixel 10 Pro devices, as well as the Samsung Galaxy S26 series, in the United States and South Korea.
Security and privacy are at the forefront, with all automated tasks requiring explicit user confirmation before execution. Users can monitor task progress and stop operations immediately if needed. All actions are executed within a secure virtual environment, preventing AI from accessing other device data.
Additional updates include:
Expanded scam call detection to Galaxy S26 devices in the U.S., building on its prior availability on Pixel phones in multiple countries.
On-device Gemini AI model for identifying fraudulent SMS messages in the U.S., Canada, and the U.K.
Enhanced Circle to Search feature, allowing users to select multiple on-screen items at once for recognition, from clothing and accessories to entire contextual elements.
“These updates reflect Google’s ongoing commitment to integrating AI into daily life while maintaining the highest standards of privacy and security,” said a Google spokesperson.
The new capabilities are part of a global effort to leverage artificial intelligence in everyday task management, emphasizing both user convenience and device safety.
