Amazon Plans Up to $50 Billion Investment in OpenAI Amid AGI and IPO Ambitions
Amazon is reportedly planning an investment of up to $50 billion in OpenAI, including an upfront commitment of $15 billion, with an additional $35 billion tied to conditional milestones such as the company achieving artificial general intelligence (AGI) or proceeding with an initial public offering (IPO), according to Yahoo Finance.
The funding round also involves other major global players, including SoftBank and NVIDIA, each planning to invest $30 billion in phased contributions throughout the year as part of OpenAI’s landmark fundraising effort.
OpenAI is preparing for a potential public listing that could value the company at up to $1 trillion, as major technology firms race to establish strategic partnerships to strengthen their positions in the rapidly expanding artificial intelligence market.
The deal would position Amazon as the largest contributor in the funding round, with a strong focus on supporting AI data center infrastructure—considered a critical pillar for OpenAI’s future expansion and long-term growth in the sector.
