Wa3i.net Platform Highlights National Impact in Advancing Digital Safety and Citizenship in Egypt
As part of Egypt’s growing efforts to promote safe and responsible digital engagement, Engineer Huda Dahrouj revealed that the Digital Citizenship and Online Protection Initiative has reached thousands of beneficiaries across the country through a wide range of training and awareness activities.
The initiative has implemented 38 specialized training courses focused on protecting users from online risks, benefiting 1,727 teachers, alongside 13 training sessions on essential digital citizenship skills attended by 658 young people. In total, 2,385 teachers and youth have received structured training under the initiative.
In parallel, 40 virtual awareness sessions were conducted, engaging 1,868 parents, guardians, and young participants. The program also delivered 41 interactive workshops designed specifically for children and adolescents, reaching 2,472 participants through partnerships with libraries, schools, youth centers, governorates, and civil society organizations.
Speaking at the official launch of the Wa3i.net platform, Dahrouj presented the initiative’s foundational pillars and its vision for building a safer digital environment. She underscored the importance of interactive digital content in cultivating responsible technology use, enhancing awareness of online threats, and guiding users toward reliable support resources.
She noted that the platform was developed as a strategic response to the need for stronger digital literacy among children, aligning with national priorities for online child protection, privacy awareness, and family and educator empowerment in the digital age.
The launch event concluded with the screening of a documentary film highlighting the platform’s goals and the diverse services it offers to different segments of society.
