Central Bank of Egypt and Ministry of Higher Education Strengthen Support for Outstanding Students

Hassan Abdullah, Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE), met with Dr. Abdel Aziz Konsowa, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, to discuss areas of cooperation between the banking sector and higher education institutions in Egypt, in line with the state’s vision to invest in human capital and support the development of the educational system.

The meeting was attended by CBE Deputy Governors Rami Abu El-Naga and Tarek El-Khouly, as well as Ghada Tawfiq, CBE’s Deputy Governor for Social Responsibility. Representatives from the Ministry included Dr. Maher Mesbah, Secretary of the Council of Private Universities; Dr. Sherif Keshk, Assistant Minister for Smart Governance; legal advisors Atef Omar and Mahmoud Ahmed; and Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim, Assistant Secretary of the Council of Private Universities.

During the discussions, both parties agreed on shared visions to support the educational system, nurture academically and research-talented students, and enhance the impact of the national initiative “Future Scientists Scholarship”, launched in collaboration between the Central Bank and the Ministry. The initiative aims to support high-achieving students who are socially eligible across all governorates, ensuring they can complete their university education and contribute to balanced, nationwide development.

Investment in Education and Research
The initiative includes a dedicated account, 7070, opened at Egyptian banks to receive contributions supporting outstanding students. This mechanism encourages participation from the banking sector, private companies, and society at large, reinforcing the principle of social solidarity in investing in education and research.

The first phase of the initiative provided full scholarships to 1,953 students, underscoring the state’s commitment to empowering talented youth and highlighting science and innovation as pillars of sustainable development.
