Egypt Highlights AI Leadership at AI Impact Summit 2026 in India

Eng. Rafeat Hindi, Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, delivered Egypt’s speech during the Leaders’ Session at the AI Impact Summit 2026, hosted by the Republic of India. The summit brought together world leaders, government officials, executives from leading global technology and AI companies, international organizations, investors, innovators, and researchers.

In his address, Eng. Hindi expressed pride in Egypt’s participation, emphasizing the longstanding strategic friendship between Egypt and India, rooted in historical cooperation under the Non-Aligned Movement. He highlighted the shared commitment of both countries to ensure that artificial intelligence serves humanity and promotes shared prosperity.

Eng. Hindi commended the Government of India for hosting the summit and for its leadership in promoting responsible, human-centered AI that advances development and human dignity. He noted that Egypt played an active role in shaping the summit’s outcomes and serves as co-chair of the AI Resource Democracy Working Group.

He further emphasized that Egypt has implemented a National AI Strategy since 2019, integrating AI applications across critical sectors including healthcare, education, justice, and government services. These efforts contributed to Egypt’s rise of 60 ranks in the Government AI Readiness Index since 2019. Eng. Hindi also stressed Egypt’s commitment to collaborating with African and Arab nations to maximize the impact of AI initiatives.

Highlighting the transformative potential of AI, he called on Global South countries to guide these changes collectively, noting that Egypt and India stand as historically significant nations addressing contemporary challenges to ensure AI drives inclusive development and prosperity for all.

Eng. Hindi concluded by reaffirming Egypt’s full support for the AI Impact Summit – New Delhi 2026 Declaration.

The session was attended by H.E. Kamal Galal, Ambassador of Egypt to India; Dr. Hoda Baraka, Advisor to the Minister for Technological Skills Development; and Ms. Samah Aziz, Head of the International Relations Department at the Ministry of Communications and IT. Eng. Hindi also participated in a formal dinner hosted by H.E. Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India, alongside participating world leaders and delegations.

The AI Impact Summit aims to establish a global roadmap for AI governance, promote international cooperation for human-centered AI, foster inclusive growth, support social development, and amplify the voices of Global South countries to ensure equitable technological progress. The summit focuses on three main pillars: People, Planet, and Progress, serving as a platform to enhance multilateral initiatives and establish practical cooperation frameworks for tangible impact.
