Huawei Unveils Next-Generation Professional Running Watch Ahead of Madrid Launch

Huawei is preparing to launch its next-generation professional running watch, the HUAWEI WATCH GT Runner, on February 26 in Madrid. Developed over five years of continuous research and development and refined through close collaboration with world-class athletes, the new watch marks a major leap forward in performance accuracy, particularly in heart rate zone tracking, lactate threshold analysis, and GPS precision in complex terrains.

Powered by Huawei’s proprietary TruSense health monitoring system and Sunflower positioning technology, the watch is designed specifically for professional and elite runners. The device will make its official debut alongside the new Mate 80 Pro smartphone and the HUAWEI MatePad Mini, further strengthening Huawei’s integrated ecosystem of smart devices.

Ahead of its official launch, the watch has already demonstrated its capabilities on the global stage. Several elite athletes from the dsm-firmenich Running Team were seen wearing the unreleased device during the Burj2Burj Half Marathon earlier this month, drawing attention from both the running community and technology enthusiasts.

Huawei has integrated real-world performance data from professional athletes—covering heart rate zones, lactate threshold dynamics, and high-altitude performance—directly into its advanced algorithms. This athlete-driven approach ensures that the watch meets the precise demands of competitive runners, offering stable route tracking and pace accuracy even in challenging environments.

The new WATCH GT Runner builds on Huawei’s long-term investment in sports science, including testing with more than 100 runners and the development of machine-learning models for fatigue assessment. Together, these innovations provide runners with data-driven training insights and scientific exercise guidance.

With the return of the Mate Series after a three-year hiatus and the global launch stage set in Madrid, Huawei aims to redefine benchmarks in both wearable technology and professional sports tracking.
