Egypt Strengthens Its Position as a Regional Digital Infrastructure Hub, ADCA Report Finds

The Data Centres in Africa 2026 report, issued by the Africa Data Centres Association (ADCA) in collaboration with Rising Advisory, highlights that Egypt continues to consolidate its role as a strategic hub for digital infrastructure. This position is driven by Egypt’s unique geographic location, which makes it a critical intercontinental data transit point, alongside ongoing improvements in telecommunications networks and technical infrastructure.

According to the report, Egypt is the most connected country in the region to submarine cable systems, linked to more than 19 subsea cable networks. This extensive connectivity reinforces its role as a primary corridor for international data traffic and provides a strong competitive advantage in attracting investments related to data centers and cloud services.

The report notes that Egypt’s strategic standing positions it well to host regional computing hubs and artificial intelligence projects, amid rising global demand for processing and storage capacity closer to emerging markets. This further strengthens its role as a center for data exchange and digital services.

Additionally, the report emphasizes that strong international connectivity, combined with evolving regulatory frameworks and relatively reliable energy availability, are key factors enhancing Egypt’s ability to attract digital infrastructure investments—especially as data centers increasingly emerge as critical strategic assets worldwide.
