Egypt’s Central Bank Governor Participates in 10th Arab Fiscal Forum during World Governments Summit 2026

Hassan Abdalla, Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE), took part in the 10th Arab Fiscal Forum, organized by the UAE Ministry of Finance under the theme “A Decade of Fiscal Dialogue: Building Macroeconomic Resilience through Stronger Fiscal Policies and Institutions.” The forum was held in cooperation with the Arab Monetary Fund (AMF) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), as part of the World Governments Summit 2026 currently taking place in Dubai.

The forum was attended by Mohamed bin Hadi Al Hussaini, UAE Minister of State for Financial Affairs; Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the IMF; and Dr. Fahad Al Turki, Director General and Chairman of the Arab Monetary Fund, alongside a distinguished group of Arab central bank governors, finance ministers, senior government officials, experts, and representatives of regional and international financial institutions.

The forum aims to discuss the latest regional and global economic developments, review a decade of Arab fiscal dialogue, and explore priorities for the next phase—particularly in public finance reform, development financing, improving public spending efficiency, digital transformation, and the use of advanced technologies in managing fiscal policies and financial institutions.

Governor Abdalla participated in the forum’s opening session titled “The Arab World Outlook amid Shocks and Uncertainty,” which addressed regional and global economic trends and examined the impact of trade and financial tensions on Arab economies. The session focused on macroeconomic challenges and ways to strengthen resilience in the face of crises.

On the sidelines of the forum, the CBE Governor held several high-level meetings, including a meeting with IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva to discuss areas of cooperation and recent developments in Egypt’s macroeconomic indicators within the framework of the country’s economic reform program supported by the IMF. The meeting was attended by Dr. Mohamed Maait, Executive Director and Member of the IMF Executive Board representing the Arab Group and Maldives; Yasser Sobhi, Deputy Minister of Finance; Dr. Jihad Azour, Director of the IMF’s Middle East and Central Asia Department; and senior IMF officials.

Governor Abdalla also held a bilateral meeting with Dr. Fahad Al Turki, Director General of the Arab Monetary Fund, to discuss avenues for cooperation and exchange views on key economic issues of mutual interest.
