Egypt Unveils Middle East’s Largest Automated Sorting Center by Bosta
Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Egypt’s Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation, inaugurated Bosta’s automated sorting center, the largest of its kind in the Middle East. The facility features the region’s largest automated sorting machine, with a capacity to process 11,000 shipments per hour and up to 250,000 shipments daily. The company aims to deliver approximately 80 million shipments in 2026.
High-Profile Attendance and Strategic Investments
The inauguration was attended by Mohamed Ezzat, Founder & CEO of Bosta, Ken Allen, former CEO of DHL, Hossam Heba, former Chairman of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones, along with entrepreneurs and startup community representatives.
Dr. Al-Mashat congratulated Bosta’s leadership on the expansion, highlighting that the project reflects the growing logistics and e-commerce sector in Egypt. She emphasized the local market’s potential and the ability of Egyptian entrepreneurs to leverage technology and innovation to enhance services.
Government Support for Startups
The minister underscored the government’s commitment to providing incentives and facilitating growth for startups and entrepreneurs, citing the significant efforts of the ministerial group for entrepreneurship over the past year, which resulted in numerous support measures and incentives to be announced soon.
Dr. Al-Mashat also praised collaborations within the Egyptian startup ecosystem, citing Bosta’s partnership with Simplex, a local machinery manufacturer, as an example of integrated innovation and market competitiveness.
Innovation and National Economic Strategy
She further noted that Egypt’s participation in the World Economic Forum in Davos highlighted the role of technology and AI in driving startup growth, which in turn boosts overall sector development. Dr. Al-Mashat emphasized that entrepreneurship and innovation are critical for emerging economies, aligning with the World Bank’s report on productivity and growth.
The initiative supports Egypt’s National Narrative for Comprehensive Development, outlining the roadmap for the economy until 2030, with entrepreneurship and innovation at its core. Progress in the startup ecosystem directly enhances growth rates and market competitiveness.
