Google Introduces Seamless Transition from AI Overviews to Interactive AI Mode in Search
Google has announced a new update to its search engine that allows users to move directly from AI Overviews to interactive conversations within AI Mode, making the search experience more engaging and personalized. AI Overviews are concise, AI-generated summaries that appear at the top of search results, designed to deliver quick and efficient information.
The new update enables users to ask follow-up questions and receive expanded answers within the same conversational context, eliminating the need to restart searches or navigate external websites.
Google also revealed that Gemini 3 has now become the default model globally for all AI Overviews, delivering more accurate and refined responses, and helping users better understand complex information with greater speed and clarity.
According to Google, the update is part of its broader strategy to transform search from a static, text-based experience into a dynamic, AI-driven interaction. The new functionality allows users to verify information and explore topics more deeply within the same search environment, significantly reducing time and effort.
Internal testing showed that users prefer search experiences that naturally flow into conversational interactions, enabling continuous questioning while preserving the context derived from AI summaries.
AI Overviews Expansion
The update comes shortly after Google launched its Personal Intelligence feature within AI Mode, which allows the platform to access user data from Gmail and Google Photos to deliver highly personalized responses based on individual interests and digital activity. This feature, also available in the Gemini app, connects email, photos, search history, and YouTube activity to create a more tailored and efficient search experience.
Google has also recently introduced AI Overviews in Gmail, enabling users to search their inbox using natural language to quickly retrieve information, instead of relying on traditional keyword searches and manually opening multiple emails.
The latest update reflects Google’s vision of integrating artificial intelligence seamlessly into everyday digital experiences, transforming search into a smarter educational and exploratory tool, and helping users make faster and more informed decisions in their daily lives.
