Egypt’s Ministry of Manpower and Talabat Egypt Launch Protective Gear Distribution for Delivery Riders Under “Your Safety Matters” Campaign
In line with the state’s directives to protect non-regular labor and enhance occupational safety, the Ministry of Manpower and Talabat Egypt have officially launched a large-scale initiative to distribute personal protective equipment to delivery riders, as part of the “Your Safety Matters” campaign aimed at supporting and safeguarding delivery workers.
The initiative represents a practical step in implementing the directives of Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to enhance protection for non-regular workers and strengthen cooperation between the public and private sectors to create safer working environments. Through this campaign, Talabat Egypt, in collaboration with the Ministry of Manpower and its logistics partners, is distributing professional safety helmets to delivery riders, who are considered a cornerstone of the daily delivery ecosystem.
The launch event witnessed high-level participation from the Ministry of Manpower, including Counselor Khaled Abdallah, Supervisor General of Occupational Safety and Health, and Engineer Mahmoud Abu Beih, Director General of the General Administration for Securing the Work Environment. Their participation reflects the government’s continued support for initiatives that raise preventive awareness and reduce occupational risks faced by delivery riders during their daily work, while ensuring compliance with safety requirements, particularly the mandatory use of helmets.
Talabat Egypt was represented by several senior executives, including regional team members Mayank Khaitan, Regional Fleet Management Director, and Ahmed Younes, Regional Health and Safety Director, alongside Maha Saleh, Head of Corporate Affairs, and Mohamed Mohsen, Head of Logistics Operations. The participation underscores Talabat’s commitment to strengthening occupational safety standards and providing a safe and sustainable working environment for delivery riders.
To date, 3,000 protective helmets have been distributed to delivery riders, with the Ministry of Manpower overseeing adherence to safety regulations. Talabat Egypt, in cooperation with its logistics partners, emphasized that providing protective equipment is a fundamental pillar in ensuring a motivating and secure work environment that supports the professional and social stability of delivery riders. The initiative is set to continue in the coming period to further enhance safety measures on an ongoing basis.
Commenting on the initiative, Counselor Khaled Abdallah conveyed the greetings of Minister of Manpower Mohamed Gibran to delivery workers, wishing them continued safety. He noted that the campaign goes beyond the distribution of protective equipment, forming an integrated framework to promote a safe work environment. This includes obligating companies operating in the sector to apply the Ministry’s approved Occupational Safety Code, activating accident insurance mechanisms and fair compensation systems, and launching joint inspection campaigns with traffic authorities to ensure riders’ compliance with safety gear requirements.
“Our goal is for every delivery worker to feel that they are an integral part of the Egyptian economy, protected by law and supported by equipment and procedures that ensure their safety on every delivery,” Abdallah said.
For her part, Hadeer Shelbi, Vice Chairperson and Managing Director of Talabat Egypt, stated: “The safety and well-being of delivery riders remain a top priority for Talabat. Through continuous initiatives such as Road Safety Week and the ‘Your Safety Matters’ campaign, we are committed to transforming safety standards into concrete actions on the ground, including the distribution of protective equipment in cooperation with our logistics partners.”
Talabat is among the first companies to respond to the Ministry of Manpower’s initiative, paving the way for expanding this model across the entire e-commerce and delivery sector in cooperation with logistics offices, to enhance job security for thousands of young people working in this vital industry.
The event forms part of a broader series of ongoing initiatives implemented by Talabat Egypt in partnership with its logistics partners to enhance the efficiency and safety of delivery riders. These efforts include joint training programs with the Ministry of Manpower and the Ministry of Interior on safe driving practices and occupational protection, the annual Road Safety Week focusing on defensive driving and first aid, the distribution of protective equipment, periodic medical check-ups, and the annual “Heroes Appreciation” ceremony honoring top-performing riders and encouraging adherence to safety standards.
