Egypt Post Warns Citizens Against Fake Traffic Violation SMS Scams

Egypt Post has issued an urgent warning to citizens regarding a new wave of electronic fraud attempts carried out through deceptive SMS messages claiming the registration of traffic violations and the imposition of financial penalties.

In an official statement, Egypt Post clarified that the fraudulent messages include fake electronic links designed to steal users’ personal and financial data under the pretext of paying traffic fines, falsely claiming to be issued by the national postal authority.

The authority stressed that all such messages are entirely fraudulent and not affiliated with Egypt Post, urging citizens to avoid clicking on suspicious links or sharing any personal information.

Egypt Post confirmed that legitimate messages related to traffic violations only contain the official website link of the Public Prosecution:
https://ppo.gov.eg/tr
and do not include any alternative or third-party links.

The statement comes amid growing concerns over phishing campaigns, as fraudsters increasingly mimic official logos and communication styles to mislead the public. Egypt Post reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing cybersecurity measures and taking legal action against individuals involved in impersonating government institutions and unlawfully accessing citizens’ financial accounts.
