Mustafa Menissi: Paymob Leverages AI to Accelerate Operational Decisions and Enhance Merchant Experience
Mustafa Menissi, Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of Paymob, outlined the company’s vision for practical artificial intelligence adoption that delivers direct business returns and creates tangible improvements in operational efficiency and merchant experience.
Speaking during MESKA SPARK VOL.2, held on Friday at Creativia, Menissi stressed that successful AI implementation goes beyond adding new technology layers to existing systems. Instead, it requires rethinking the entire business model and redesigning core applications and workflows to embed AI at the heart of operations rather than treating it as a peripheral tool.
Menissi explained that organizations aiming to adopt AI effectively must first reassess their most impactful applications and identify how AI can create real value within them. He noted that Paymob has already deployed multiple AI-driven solutions across different levels of the business, including predictive models that support cross-selling strategies and revenue growth, as well as advanced analytics that enhance data-driven decision-making.
He added that AI has also played a critical role in optimizing internal processes, reducing tasks that previously required days of operational effort to just minutes. According to Menissi, the most significant and immediate impact of AI adoption at Paymob has come from embedding these technologies directly into operational workflows.
As a case in point, he highlighted the company’s handling of ACH transfer follow-ups. Previously, resolving the status of a transfer could take four to five days, as requests moved between customer support teams, finance departments, and banks, often with limited visibility into whether a transaction was completed or pending. This lack of clarity was a major source of frustration for merchants.
Menissi revealed that Paymob has fully automated this process using AI and chatbot technologies. Merchants can now view the status of their transfers within seconds rather than days, with clear and accurate confirmation of whether funds have been successfully received.
He concluded by emphasizing that operational efficiency and enhanced customer support, particularly in money movement and transaction visibility, represent some of the most valuable outcomes of AI adoption at Paymob. The true value of the technology, he said, becomes evident when it directly improves service speed, information transparency, and customer trust.
