Edita Acquires African Trademark Rights for Ho Hos, Twinkies, and Tiger Tail from Hostess Brands
Edita Food Industries announced that it has acquired the trademark rights, brand names, and associated goodwill for Ho Hos, Twinkies, and Tiger Tail across the remaining African countries outside the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), from Hostess Brands, a wholly owned subsidiary of The J.M. Smucker Company.
In a disclosure to the Egyptian Exchange, the company stated that the acquisition was completed through a Trademark and Goodwill Assignment and Sale Agreement signed between the two parties. Under the agreement, Edita gains the exclusive rights to use, develop, and market the brands across African markets beyond the MENA region.
Edita already holds the rights to these brands within the Middle East and North Africa, a factor that further strengthens its regional expansion strategy and supports its long-term objective of growing its brand portfolio and expanding into high-growth African markets.
On the financial front, Edita reported net profits of EGP 1.72 billion for the period from January through the end of September 2025, compared with EGP 1.25 billion during the same period in 2024. The company’s sales also rose to EGP 14.74 billion in the first nine months of 2025, up from EGP 11.9 billion a year earlier.
