Egypt Post Opens Online Registration for Old Rent Law Alternative Housing at 500 Post Offices
Egypt Post has announced the launch of an online registration service for citizens covered by the Old Rent Law and eligible for the «Alternative Housing» scheme, starting Sunday, 18 January. The service will be available through 500 post offices nationwide, ensuring comprehensive geographic coverage across all governorates.
The initiative comes as part of Egypt Post’s ongoing efforts to facilitate access to government services and deliver them in a structured, secure, and citizen-friendly manner, while reducing congestion and streamlining procedures.
In its initial phase, registration will be limited to applicants who already have an active account on the Digital Egypt Platform. Applicants’ data will be verified electronically through the platform, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and faster processing of applications. Egypt Post noted that the service for creating and activating new Digital Egypt accounts will be made available at post offices during a subsequent phase.
Egypt Post also confirmed that participating post offices will extend their working hours into the evening, remaining open until 6:00 p.m., to allow the largest possible number of citizens to benefit from the service.
Citizens wishing to apply are advised to ensure that their Digital Egypt Platform accounts are active before visiting the designated post offices, in order to guarantee smooth and timely completion of the registration process.
