Telecom Valley Praises President El-Sisi’s Directives to Advance Telecommunications Industry and Boost Local Manufacturing
Telecom Valley has praised the recent directives issued by President Abdel Fattah El‑Sisi aimed at accelerating the development of Egypt’s telecommunications industry and strengthening local manufacturing, describing them as a clear and strategic vision to enhance one of the country’s most vital economic sectors.
Wael Halawa, Managing Director of Telecom Valley, commended the President’s statements made during his meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat, where the President stressed the importance of opening new horizons for the growth of the telecommunications sector and addressing challenges related to domestic manufacturing.
Halawa said that the presidential directives to explore opportunities for developing data centers and cloud computing services represent a pivotal step toward building a robust and advanced digital infrastructure. Such infrastructure, he noted, is essential to meeting the rapidly growing demand for digital services, supporting comprehensive digital transformation, and positioning Egypt as a regional hub for data services and advanced technologies.
He added that the emphasis on expanding the local manufacturing of telecommunications equipment, alongside establishing effective mechanisms to support and encourage domestic products, reflects a deep understanding of the importance of industrial localization. This approach, according to Halawa, will help reduce reliance on imports, maximize value added to the Egyptian economy, create high-quality job opportunities, and build skilled technical cadres capable of keeping pace with global technological developments.
The Managing Director of Telecom Valley emphasized that these directives serve as a clear roadmap for the private sector, encouraging companies operating in the telecommunications and information technology field to increase investments, enter strategic partnerships, and facilitate technology and knowledge transfer. He noted that such steps are crucial for developing an integrated and sustainable industrial ecosystem.
Halawa also pointed out that the strong focus on data centers and cloud computing opens the door to promising investment opportunities and enhances the ability of local companies to deliver advanced digital services that meet the needs of both government and private sector institutions. This, he said, will further support the growth of the digital economy, particularly amid the accelerating global shift toward cloud-based solutions.
Concluding his remarks, Halawa affirmed that the political leadership’s directives send a strong message of confidence in the telecommunications sector and promote closer coordination between the government and the private sector. This cooperation, he said, is key to achieving sustainable growth, strengthening the regional and international competitiveness of Egyptian industry, and cementing the role of telecommunications and information technology as a main driver of Egypt’s economic and social development.
Telecom Valley positions itself as a key player in Egypt’s digital transformation landscape, contributing to job creation and the transfer of global technological expertise to the local market, at a time when the telecommunications sector is witnessing unprecedented growth in investment volumes and demand for digital solutions.
