ICT Minister Meets Egypt Post’s Newly Appointed Board of Directors

The Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Amr Talaat, met with the newly appointed Board of Directors of Egypt Post, chaired by Dalia Elbaz, at Egypt Post’s headquarters in Smart Village.
During the meeting, the ICT Minister expressed his appreciation to the former Board members for their efforts and accumulated expertise, noting that their work played a pivotal role in developing Egypt Post’s operational systems and enhancing service efficiency. He also extended his congratulations to the newly appointed Board members, wishing them success in their new responsibilities.
Talaat highlighted that Egypt Post is among the oldest institutions in the country, having been established in 1865 - a full decade before the founding of the Universal Postal Union, of which Egypt Post is a longstanding member. He explained that over nearly 160 years, Egypt Post has built a distinguished legacy marked by tangible achievements across multiple fields. Central to this legacy, he added, is the trust of Egyptian citizens, as Egypt Post functions as a one-stop shop providing a wide range of governmental, financial, and postal services.
The ICT Minister noted that the efficient delivery of services has further strengthened this trust, which is clearly reflected in citizens’ strong adoption of newly introduced services. He stressed the importance of building on this trust to ensure that Egypt Post continues to maintain its leading position at the local, regional, and international levels.
Talaat also reviewed Egypt Post’s development over the past seven years, stating that the total number of post offices nationwide has reached 4,651. More than 85% of these offices across various governorates have been upgraded, while Egypt Post is approaching the completion of its targets under the three phases of the Decent Life initiative.
Since 2018, nearly 1,000 new postal outlets have been established, including 770 post offices, postal kiosks, and mobile post offices, in addition to the installation of around 3,000 ATMs. The Minister noted that ATMs are now available in almost 70% of post offices across the country. These efforts, he said, significantly enhance Egypt Post’s capacity to expand financial, governmental, and postal services, and to offer service packages that respond to the evolving needs of Egyptian citizens.
The ICT Minister also referred to the launch of the “Wassalha” service, which aims to support and stimulate e-commerce activities. He added that more than 47 logistics centers have been established to support the delivery of postal services through automated systems. In parallel, the Egyptian Postal Museum has undergone extensive renovation, with its exhibits increasing by nearly threefold, positioning it among the leading postal museums at both regional and international levels.
Furthermore, Talaat affirmed that Egypt Post is undergoing comprehensive development to further advance digital transformation and financial inclusion services. He noted that the coming phase will witness the implementation of additional projects that build on this development trajectory.
During the first meeting of the newly formed Board, Egypt Post Chairperson Dalia Elbaz expressed her gratitude to the former Board members for their contributions to these achievements and welcomed the new members.
Elbaz reviewed the key milestones of Egypt Post’s recent development, emphasizing that the institution has achieved significant progress through investments in upgrading post offices, offering integrated products and services, and introducing new solutions that have helped restore its strategic role in line with its extensive capabilities.
She added that Egypt Post aims, in the coming period, to expand the provision of non-banking financial services, in addition to delivering governmental and financial services on behalf of third parties, leveraging its wide geographic network of post offices nationwide. Elbaz also highlighted the institution’s strong focus on digital services as a key pillar for attracting younger generations.
Elbaz further announced the imminent launch of the “Felousy” application, coinciding with the upcoming Egypt Post Day. The application will be the first digital platform in Egypt enabling citizens to purchase and redeem investment fund documents via mobile phones. She also referred to the relaunch of the “Easy Pay” service in cooperation with eFinance, allowing users to conduct a wide range of financial transactions seamlessly through mobile devices.
It is worth noting that the ICT Minister issued a decree earlier this December forming Egypt Post’s new Board of Directors, chaired by Egypt Post’s Chairperson.
