ICT Minister Meets New Egypt Post Board, Reviews Expansion of Digital and Financial Services
Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, held a meeting with the newly formed Board of Directors of the Egyptian National Postal Authority, chaired by Dalya El-Baz, at the Authority’s headquarters in Smart Village.
During the meeting, Talaat extended his appreciation to the former board members in recognition of their efforts and contributions to the development of Egypt Post, while congratulating the newly appointed board on assuming their responsibilities.
In his remarks, the Minister noted that Egypt Post is one of the country’s oldest national institutions, established in 1865, ten years before the creation of the Universal Postal Union, of which it was a founding member. He highlighted that over nearly 160 years, Egypt Post has achieved tangible progress across multiple areas, with citizen trust standing out as one of its most significant assets, given its role as a key channel for delivering government and postal services nationwide.
Talaat reviewed the major developments witnessed by Egypt Post over the past seven years, stating that the total number of postal outlets has reached 4,651 nationwide, with more than 85% of post offices fully modernized. He added that since 2018, around 1,000 new postal outlets have been introduced, including 770 post offices, in addition to postal kiosks and mobile offices. More than 3,000 ATMs have also been deployed within post offices, now covering nearly 70% of Egypt Post locations across the country.
He emphasized that these efforts have significantly enhanced the Authority’s ability to expand the provision of financial, governmental, and postal services, offering integrated service packages that meet citizens’ needs. Talaat also highlighted the launch of the “Waselha” service to support e-commerce, the establishment of more than 47 logistics centers to mechanize postal services, and the redevelopment of the Postal Museum, with its exhibits tripled, positioning it among the leading postal museums regionally and internationally.
The Minister stressed that Egypt Post is undergoing a comprehensive development program to support digital transformation and financial inclusion, noting that the coming phase will witness the implementation of further projects to build on the achievements made so far.
For her part, Dalya El-Baz, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian National Postal Authority, thanked the former board members for their role in achieving these milestones and welcomed the newly appointed board. She outlined the key aspects of Egypt Post’s recent transformation, attributing its progress to sustained investment in post office development, the introduction of an integrated portfolio of products and services, and the launch of new offerings that have helped restore the Authority’s strategic role.
El-Baz revealed that Egypt Post plans to expand further into non-banking financial services and third-party services, both governmental and financial, leveraging its extensive geographic network. She underscored the Authority’s strong focus on digital services to attract younger segments of society, announcing the upcoming launch of the “Flousi” application, Egypt’s first digital platform enabling citizens to purchase and redeem investment fund certificates via mobile phones. The launch is scheduled to coincide with the upcoming Postal Day. She also confirmed the relaunch of the “Easy Pay” application in cooperation with e-Finance, allowing users to conduct a wide range of financial transactions seamlessly via mobile devices.
It is worth noting that Minister Amr Talaat issued a decree earlier this month appointing Dalya El-Baz as Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian National Postal Authority, alongside the formation of the Authority’s new board.
