Talaat Moustafa Group and Majid Al Futtaim Open New Carrefour Store at Celia in Egypt’s New Administrative Capital
Talaat Moustafa Group has announced the opening of the latest Carrefour store at The Village, the commercial and entertainment hub within the Celia development in Egypt’s New Administrative Capital, in partnership with Majid Al Futtaim, the exclusive franchise operator of Carrefour in Egypt.
The inauguration was attended by Omar Hisham Talaat, Chief Executive Officer for Business Development at Talaat Moustafa Group, and Mohamed Khafaga, Regional Director of Majid Al Futtaim Retail in Egypt, alongside senior executives from both companies.
Strategically located within The Village at Celia, one of the New Administrative Capital’s newest mixed-use destinations, the newly opened Carrefour store spans approximately 1,600 square meters. The outlet offers a wide range of high-quality products at competitive prices, serving residents of Celia and the wider New Administrative Capital.
Commenting on the opening, Omar Hisham Talaat expressed his satisfaction with the continued development of the partnership with Majid Al Futtaim Retail, which began in 2018 with the opening of the first Carrefour store at Madinaty’s Open Air Mall, followed by Carrefour Rehab in Avenue Mall Rehab in 2019, and a second Madinaty branch at All Seasons Park in 2022. He noted that the opening of Carrefour at Celia reflects Talaat Moustafa Group’s commitment to partnering with leading global brands to deliver high-quality commercial services across its developments, while meeting the growing occupancy rates at Celia in the New Administrative Capital.
Talaat added that the Carrefour opening marks the first phase of a series of upcoming launches for international restaurants and retail outlets at The Village, which serves as the vibrant heart of Celia. The destination is set to host dozens of premium global retail and leisure brands, in addition to medical and administrative centers, a sports club, cinema complex, bowling alleys, and an open-air theater, all overlooking the central lake surrounded by renowned restaurant chains.
The opening of The Village was celebrated with a large-scale concert on Thursday evening, headlined by Egyptian megastar Rami Sabry, drawing thousands of attendees who interacted enthusiastically in a lively and festive atmosphere.
Celia is the largest fully integrated, privately developed project in the New Administrative Capital, spanning 500 acres and strategically located at the heart of the Green River area. The project continues to witness ongoing development across all aspects of urban life and offers a comprehensive range of residential, commercial, administrative, medical, sports, entertainment, and transportation services, positioning Celia as the first fully vibrant residential community in the New Administrative Capital.
For his part, Mohamed Khafaga, Regional Director of Majid Al Futtaim Retail in Egypt, stated that the opening of the new Carrefour store represents an important milestone within the company’s expansion strategy in the Egyptian market and reflects the strength of its long-standing partnership with Talaat Moustafa Group. He noted that the Celia store is the second Carrefour outlet within the New Administrative Capital.

Majid Al Futtaim currently operates a network of 72 Carrefour stores across Egypt. With the opening of the Celia branch, Carrefour’s footprint in Egypt now extends across 12 cities nationwide.
