Banking Sector Captures 6.7% of EGX Total Trading Values During the Week
The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) recorded a dynamic week of trading activity across its primary listed sectors, with the banking sector securing 6.7% of total market trading values, reflecting continued investor interest and sustained market liquidity.
According to weekly market data, the non-banking financial services sector topped the list of traded sectors by value, excluding transactions, registering EGP 12.90 billion, representing 35.2% of the total market value. The sector witnessed the trading of 4.6 billion shares, executed through 111.6 thousand transactions, maintaining its position as the leading sector in terms of liquidity and market participation.
The real estate sector ranked second, generating a trading value of EGP 7.27 billion, equivalent to 19.8% of total market value, with 7.25 billion shares traded across 135.99 thousand transactions. The sector continued to demonstrate strong market activity, supported by ongoing investment momentum and sector-wide developments.
In third place came the food, beverages and tobacco sector, which achieved a total trading value of EGP 3.024 billion, accounting for 8.2% of total trades, with 1.83 billion shares exchanged through 86.4 thousand transactions.
The banking sector, positioned fourth during the week, registered EGP 2.44 billion in total trading value, representing 6.7% of the overall market trades. The sector witnessed the exchange of 55.7 million shares through 37.4 thousand executed transactions, underscoring stable investor appetite and continued confidence in Egypt’s financial institutions.
Meanwhile, the telecommunications, media and information technology sector secured the fifth position with a trading value of EGP 1.903 billion, accounting for 5.2% of total trades. The sector saw 587.2 million shares traded through 40.18 thousand transactions, reflecting steady participation amid ongoing digital transformation trends.
The weekly performance of EGX sectors highlights both market competitiveness and diversified investment trends across financial services, real estate, and banking, supported by evolving economic dynamics and sector-wide developments.
