Banking Sector Index on the EGX Rises 1.09% at the Start of Thursday’s Session
The banking sector index on the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) opened Thursday’s trading session with a 1.09% increase, reaching 3,616 points.
During early trading, the banking sector recorded transactions worth EGP 87.919 million, accounting for 7.18% of the EGX’s total trading value. The sector also saw the exchange of approximately 1.866 million shares, representing 0.23% of the total number of shares traded on the market.
The broader Egyptian Exchange indices also began the session in positive territory. The benchmark EGX30 rose 0.96% to 41,737 points. The EGX70 index for small and medium-sized enterprises gained 0.57% to reach 12,502 points, while the EGX100 increased 0.64% to 16,647 points.
