NBE Extends Partnership with Orascom Pyramids at the Giza Plateau

The National Bank of Egypt (NBE) has renewed its cooperation protocol with Orascom Pyramids for Entertainment (OPE), the company responsible for managing visitor services at the Giza Pyramids Plateau. The renewed partnership comes as part of the comprehensive transformation program underway at one of Egypt’s most prominent cultural, historical, and tourism landmarks, reinforcing NBE’s role as a strategic partner in the development of the Pyramids area since 2021.

Following the signing, Mohamed El-Etreby, CEO of the National Bank of Egypt, emphasized that the renewal reflects the ongoing success of the partnership between NBE and OPE over the past years. He noted that the bank is proud to be the primary banking partner of the Pyramids area, describing the cooperation as a model of effective collaboration between national institutions and the private sector.

El-Etreby added that the partnership has enabled the introduction of modern, integrated banking services to visitors in a manner befitting one of the world’s most iconic heritage sites. He stressed that NBE remains committed to supporting major national, developmental, and cultural projects that elevate Egypt’s global standing and reinforce its identity as a leading cultural and tourism destination.

El-Etreby also highlighted the bank’s sponsorship of the upcoming opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum, describing it as a global cultural landmark that reflects Egypt’s vision for preserving and presenting its ancient heritage.

Eng. Amr El-Gazzarin, Chairman of Orascom Pyramids (OPE), stated that the renewed partnership underscores NBE’s confidence in OPE’s vision and shared ambition to enhance the visitor experience at the Giza Plateau. He affirmed that the next phase of collaboration will focus on innovation and delivering world-class services while preserving the site’s historical integrity.

El-Gazzarin explained that OPE’s development plan, executed in coordination with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, includes the operation of eco-friendly electric buses within the Plateau, the creation of cultural and entertainment zones, new restaurants, and retail spaces that reflect Egypt’s modern identity while honoring its ancient heritage.

Dina Abou Taleb, Head of Marketing and Community Development at NBE, said the partnership embodies the bank’s vision of integrating Egypt’s cultural identity with modern service innovation. She added that NBE is committed to supporting initiatives that enhance Egypt’s global cultural visibility.

Abou Taleb noted that the renewed protocol includes upgrading the banking service infrastructure at the Pyramids by deploying ATM machines, expanding electronic point-of-sale (POS) terminals, enabling QR code and online payments, and offering exclusive service areas dedicated to the bank’s premium customers within the archaeological site.

As Egypt’s largest financial institution, the National Bank of Egypt continues to play a leading national role by supporting economic, social, and cultural development, ensuring that the country’s heritage is preserved for future generations.

The Giza Plateau Development Project is widely regarded as one of Egypt’s most important national tourism projects. Led by Orascom Pyramids (OPE), the initiative aims to upgrade visitor services, modernize transportation and access systems, preserve the archaeological environment, and deliver a world-class visitor experience that reflects the grandeur of ancient Egyptian civilization.
