Misr Italia to Launch Holding Company for PropTech Investments in H2 2026

Mohamed Khaled El Assal, CEO and Managing Director of Misr Italia Properties, announced that the company will establish a holding company dedicated to investing in PropTech startups during the second half of 2026.

The new entity will coincide with the opening of the Innovation Hub at Cairo Business Park, a state-of-the-art center entirely focused on real estate technologies. The hub will host a range of startups operating in smart architectural design, sustainable construction, automation and energy management, and digital real estate services.

In response to a question from FintechGate, El Assal explained that the purpose of the new holding company is to consolidate Misr Italia’s investments in real estate innovation under one umbrella, enabling more efficient management and broader collaboration with both local and international startups.

He added that the company will act as an investment arm focused on fostering innovation and digital transformation within Egypt’s real estate sector by funding promising startups and incubating ideas that drive advancements in smart construction, asset management, and customer experience.

El Assal revealed that Misr Italia has also decided to allocate an annual budget dedicated to supporting and financing PropTech startups, in line with its vision to accelerate the digital transformation of Egypt’s real estate industry and strengthen the culture of innovation and entrepreneurship within the broader development ecosystem.

He emphasized that Misr Italia does not seek full ownership of the startups it invests in, opting instead for minority stakes of 20–25% to ensure that founders retain control and maintain their spirit of innovation and independence.
