DP World Handles 500-Ton Oversized Cargo at Sokhna Port

DP World has successfully received and managed a massive 30-meter-long Ammonia Converter weighing more than 500 tons at Sokhna Port, underscoring the port’s advanced capabilities in handling oversized and complex cargo operations.

The achievement highlights Sokhna Port’s role as a primary gateway to the Red Sea and a vital logistics hub that supports Egypt’s trade, industry, and regional supply chains.

Ahead of the vessel’s arrival, DP World worked in close collaboration with the vessel agent Dominion Shipping Agencies (Egypt) and the transportation provider EWA Group to meticulously prepare the route and ensure a safe, efficient, and direct transfer of the shipment without disruption.

Commenting on the operation, Mohammad Shihab, CEO of DP World Egypt, said:

> “The successful handling of this oversized shipment demonstrates Sokhna Port’s capacity as an integrated logistics platform capable of managing some of the most complex cargo in terms of weight and dimensions. At DP World, we remain committed to supporting Egypt’s economy by facilitating trade and industry, while strengthening Sokhna’s position as the Red Sea’s primary gateway and a modern logistics hub.”

This milestone operation reinforces Sokhna Port’s strategic role in supporting factories and industrial projects within the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone). By handling such specialized shipments, DP World continues to contribute to strengthening supply chains, boosting local manufacturing, and enhancing Egypt’s overall economic competitiveness.
