Egypt’s Minister of Supply Meets Orange Egypt CEO to Discuss Digital Services Cooperation in “Carry On” Consumer Complex Modernization Project

Dr. Sherif Farouk, Egypt’s Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, held a meeting with Mr. Hisham Mahran, CEO and Managing Director of Orange Egypt, to explore avenues of cooperation in the modernization of consumer complexes and supply outlets under the new “Carry On” brand. The initiative is part of the Ministry’s plan to transform public retail outlets—including consumer complexes, “My Association” outlets, and subsidized grocery stores—into digitally powered, fully developed commercial hubs serving citizens with integrated services.
Dr. Farouk emphasized that the Ministry is moving steadily to upgrade Egypt’s internal trade system and enhance citizen services by partnering with leading technology companies. He highlighted that this collaboration reflects the Ministry’s strategy to integrate digital infrastructure with the subsidy and retail system, helping to strengthen the rollout of the new “Carry On” brand nationwide.
The Minister further noted that cooperation with Orange Egypt will expand the use of digital services and e-payment solutions in supply outlets, reinforcing financial inclusion and ensuring safe, seamless access to goods. The initiative will also introduce customer loyalty programs, allowing citizens to collect reward points on purchases, similar to those offered by leading retail chains.
From Orange Egypt, attendees included: Mr. Ahmed El Abd, Deputy CEO for Consumer Commercial; Eng. Mohamed Shibl, Deputy CEO for Enterprise; and Ms. Rania Gharib, Deputy CEO for Regulatory Affairs and Legal.
Representing the Ministry were: Dr. Alaa Nagi, CEO and Managing Director of the Holding Company for Food Industries; Dr. Mohamed Adel Sheta, Assistant Minister for Digital Transformation; Mr. Hossam El Gerahi, Assistant Minister for Oversight; Mr. Ahmed Kamal, Assistant Minister and Ministry Spokesperson; and Ms. Sara El-Azzazi, Head of the Minister’s Office.
Dr. Farouk affirmed that the Ministry aims to build smart retail outlets under the “Carry On” project to provide faster, more efficient services for citizens, promote financial inclusion, and enable comprehensive digital services that enhance both service quality and the management of the subsidy system.
Commenting on the partnership, Mr. Hisham Mahran expressed his enthusiasm, stating:
> “Orange Egypt is proud to partner with the Ministry of Supply in such a strategic project. We will deliver integrated digital connectivity and payment solutions across ‘Carry On’ outlets, including secure telecom infrastructure, smart POS systems, digital loyalty platforms, and data analytics for decision-making. Our goal is to enhance the citizen experience while supporting Egypt’s vision for comprehensive digital transformation.”
