NTRA Announces Temporary Service Disruptions in Greater Cairo Due to Grand Egyptian Museum Development Works

The National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) announced that certain telecommunications services in parts of Greater Cairo will be affected on Thursday morning due to development works around the Grand Egyptian Museum.

As part of ongoing infrastructure upgrades in the museum’s surrounding area near the Pyramids, the Egyptian Telecommunications Company (Telecom Egypt) will relocate segments of its main fiber-optic backbone network. These cables support both its own network and those of mobile operators Vodafone, Orange, Etisalat Egypt (e&), and WE.

The relocation works are scheduled to begin at 3:00 AM on Thursday, October 2, 2025, and will last for approximately three hours, concluding around 6:00 AM. During this period, mobile and fixed internet services may experience temporary disruptions in several districts within Greater Cairo.

The NTRA emphasized that it is closely coordinating with maintenance teams from Telecom Egypt and mobile operators to ensure the swift completion of the work and the restoration of services as quickly as possible. The Authority also extended its apologies to telecom users for any inconvenience caused during this maintenance window.
