Kaspersky Unveils Next-Level Anti-Phishing Feature for Android: Notification Protection

Global cybersecurity company Kaspersky has introduced Notification Protection, a new feature in its Android app designed to strengthen defenses against phishing attacks.

The tool automatically scans messengers and SMS notifications, identifying and removing suspicious or fraudulent links before users even open the message. Since its technical launch, the feature has already been activated by more than 166,000 users and has successfully blocked every attempted phishing link detected.

In the first half of 2025 alone, Kaspersky’s anti-phishing technologies prevented over 2 million phishing and scam attempts on Android devices worldwide. With the rise of AI-driven phishing campaigns that create highly personalized attacks through messaging apps, the company developed Notification Protection to stay ahead of evolving threats.

A Multi-Layered Defense

Notification Protection builds on Kaspersky’s three-tier anti-phishing strategy for Android users:

Safe Browsing: blocks access to malicious websites directly in the browser.

Safe Messaging: flags and warns against dangerous links inside messaging apps.

Notification Protection: scans all incoming app notifications—including SMS and messenger alerts—to remove harmful links before users can click.

The functionality works even when a device’s screen is off or set to “Do Not Disturb.” Users are alerted via push notifications and in-app warnings, ensuring uninterrupted protection on platforms like WhatsApp, Telegram, Viber, and others.

Simple Setup

The feature is available in the latest version of Kaspersky for Android. To activate it, users need only to:

1. Navigate to All features → Safe Messaging → Check Notifications in the app.

2. Grant access to notifications and enable accessibility permissions.

Since launch, Notification Protection has already prevented more than 3,500 malicious link clicks.

Expert Insight

“Phishing attacks are growing more sophisticated every year, with scammers exploiting messaging apps to deliver highly targeted scams,” said Marina Titova, Vice President, Consumer Business at Kaspersky. “It only takes one click in a flood of notifications to become a victim. With Notification Protection, users can communicate freely, knowing they’re protected from hidden dangers—even before opening a message.”

Continuous Innovation

The feature is powered by Kaspersky’s advanced detection technologies, including optical character recognition (OCR) to identify malicious text embedded in images, and a patented machine learning model trained on millions of phishing and legitimate sites.
