noon payments, a leading regional digital payments platform, and Visa, a global leader in digital payments, have announced the launch of Visa Payment Passkey, making noon payments the first payment service provider (PSP) worldwide to offer this groundbreaking solution to merchants and their customers.
The collaboration introduces Fast Identity Online (FIDO)-based authentication for ecommerce, harnessing the biometric capabilities of consumer devices to deliver a password-free, frictionless, and secure online checkout experience. By leveraging Visa Acceptance Platform solutions such as Payer Authentication and Authorization, the initiative accelerates passkey readiness while ensuring seamless and secure transactions across the Middle East.
Visa Payment Passkey represents a next-generation approach to digital security, replacing static passwords and one-time passcodes (OTP) with device-level authentication methods such as fingerprints, facial recognition, or PINs. This streamlined approach not only improves the payment journey but also provides enhanced protection against fraud and phishing attacks. Built on open industry standards from the FIDO Alliance, Visa Payment Passkey ensures biometric data never leaves the consumer’s device, safeguarding privacy while maintaining convenience.
