Vodafone Egypt Foundation and Makan launch Spark Training Camp to support 40 entrepreneurs

Vodafone Egypt Foundation for Community Development, in partnership with Momkan, launched the pilot phase of the Spark Entrepreneurship Training Camp, an intensive program aimed at supporting 40 entrepreneurs in the early stages of their entrepreneurial journey in the field of technology. The camp will be held from 28 to 30 September 2025 at Vodafone Egypt's headquarters in the Smart Village.

The Spark training camp aims to develop digital skills, promote a culture of innovation, and integrate the practices of the digital economy among entrepreneurs in various governorates between the ages of 20 and 37, so that they have already existing projects and seek to expand and grow. The program offers participants daily workshops on digital skills and entrepreneurship skills, as well as guidance and guidance sessions that contribute to the development of their projects and enhance their future plans. It also provides them with opportunities for practical learning and exchange of experiences, with a focus on specialized training that include artificial intelligence guidance techniques in the fields of sales, marketing, and the basics of digital marketing.

The first day was attended by Eng. Mohamed Hanna, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Vodafone Egypt Foundation, businessman Mohamed Farouk, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Mobica, Eng. Mahmoud Al-Khatib, Vice President of Vodafone Egypt for Business Sector, Mr. Ayman Al-Saadni, Head of External Relations Sector, Dr. Abeer Al-Laithy, Founder of Platform Possible, and Ms. Shahdan Aram, Secretary General of Vodafone Egypt. Today included a discussion session between Mahmoud Al-Khatib and Mohamed Farouk on the importance of technology in supporting entrepreneurs. This training camp is an extension of Vodafone Business's continuous efforts in supporting entrepreneurs, empowering startups and promoting a culture of innovation.

Commenting on the organization of the camp, Eng. Mohamed Hanna, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Vodafone Egypt Foundation, said: “This initiative comes within the framework of the Vodafone Foundation's strategy, which aims to expand learning opportunities, empower youth, strengthen the entrepreneurship system, and support Egypt's Vision 2030 through education, innovation and leadership as key pillars for building an integrated digital economy. The camp was organized in cooperation with "Maqan" with the aim of supporting entrepreneurs. The Vodafone Foundation also participated in the design and delivery of training content in cooperation with "Mokan". A sustainable training plan will be allocated to the top three participants to develop their projects, as they are selected based on the evaluation of the presentations of their projects, and the skills and knowledge they acquired during the intensive training program. The content of the program will later be integrated into the "Educational" platform to ensure the widest impact of the camp, and expand access to training materials.

For his part, Mohamed Farouk, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Mobica, stressed the dual role of technology and innovation, saying: “Artificial intelligence technology can perform a lot of work and facilitate many steps for entrepreneurs, but it will never be able to create a new idea or implement it on the ground. Human creativity remains the key driver of any successful project, while artificial intelligence performs all the tasks below that, giving entrepreneurs the time and energy to focus on innovation and growth.”

Mahmoud Al-Khatib, Vice President of Vodafone Egypt for Business, added: “This training camp complements Vodafone Business's role in supporting the entrepreneurship ecosystem, supporting startups, and providing technological solutions that enable them to grow. Through Vodafone Business, we have explored new ways to provide additional support to the three participants in this camp through innovative technological solutions and strategic consulting to support their business and develop their projects, enhancing sustainability and deepening the impact of the program on the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem in Egypt, as we continue our role in advancing digital transformation and economic development.

For her part, she confirmed dr. Abeer Al-Laithy, co-founder of Mamkan, on the importance of the training camp in empowering female entrepreneurs, saying: “Moqan is keen to create educational and training spaces that open up new horizons for young people, especially girls, to acquire advanced digital skills and adopt innovative solutions that enhance the chances of success of their projects. Our collaboration with Vodafone Egypt translates our shared vision of empowering youth, supporting the digital economy, and expanding learning and professional development opportunities to keep pace with the requirements of the local and international labor market.

The organization of the Spark Entrepreneurship Training Camp reflects Vodafone Egypt's commitment to continue investing in youth and supporting digital entrepreneurship, contributing to creating a new generation of innovators capable of leading the future of the digital economy.
