DevOpsDays Cairo 2025: Where AI Meets DevOps in the Heart of Egypt’s Tech Scene

The eighth edition of DevOpsDays Cairo 2025 was officially launched today under the patronage of Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, bringing together 55 local and international experts in software development and digital infrastructure at Egypt’s Digital Innovation Hub “Creativa” in Giza.

Speaking on behalf of Ahmed Elzaher, CEO of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), Dr. Haitham Hamza, Acting Head of the Software Engineering Competence Center (SECC), emphasized that DevOpsDays Cairo has evolved into a strategic platform that reflects Egypt’s vision to strengthen the ICT sector, develop local talent, and contribute to shaping global best practices.

This year’s conference, held under the theme “The Road to the AI Era with DevOps”, marks the eighth consecutive edition organized by ITIDA and SECC. Since its inception in 2018 as the first DevOps-focused event in the Arab world, the conference has grown from a single-track gathering into a multi-track platform attracting world-class experts and practitioners.

Among the keynote speakers were Andrew Clay Shafer, co-founder of DevOpsDays and founder of Ergonautic (USA); Rania Mohamed, Customer Solutions Architect at Google Cloud and member of DORA (DevOps Research and Assessment, Netherlands); and Hasan Yasar, Technical Director at Carnegie Mellon University’s Software Engineering Institute (SEI, USA).

Elzaher highlighted the remarkable growth of the event, noting that participation has surged from 220 attendees and nine speakers in 2023 to more than 600 attendees and 34 speakers in 2024, positioning Cairo as a regional hub for software engineering excellence.

He also underlined SECC’s role since its establishment in 2001 as Egypt’s center of expertise for the ICT sector, providing training, consulting, and certification services in advanced fields such as software testing, generative AI, and DevOps. “DevOps today is no longer just a set of tools—it has become a work culture that accelerates digital project delivery and enhances quality, boosting the competitiveness of Egyptian companies worldwide,” Elzaher noted.

Egypt’s growing pool of young talent remains a cornerstone of this progress, with nearly 760,000 graduates annually, 30% of whom specialize in science and engineering. This has fueled the country’s outsourcing industry, which saw exports grow by 80% over the past three years to $4.3 billion in 2024, while direct jobs expanded by 70% to exceed 160,000 positions. The number of global companies operating in Egypt has also more than doubled, from 64 to over 180.

This year’s agenda featured four main tracks combining DevOps and AI, with sessions covering AI-powered testing, software security, performance optimization, and generative AI in software development. Hands-on workshops allowed participants to explore cutting-edge tools and practices first-hand.

The event received more than 95 research proposals from 75 contributors across seven countries, including Egypt, the United States, the Netherlands, Germany, the UK, India, and the UAE.

DevOpsDays Cairo 2025 is organized in collaboration with ATOS, Cegedim, DXC Technology, Orange Innovation Egypt, Stakpak, Vodafone Intelligent Solutions (VOIS), Cairo University, Egypt University of Informatics, and The American University in Cairo. It is supported by sponsors such as ARCHER, Deloitte, eFinance, Noventiq, and Konecta, with the DevOps Institute serving as the strategic partner for the software engineering community.

DevOpsDays is a globally renowned conference series that originated in Belgium in 2009 and is now hosted in more than 60 cities worldwide. Since 2018, Cairo has been the Arab world’s pioneer in hosting the event, solidifying Egypt’s role as a regional hub for digital innovation and software engineering excellence.
