Embassy of India in Egypt Showcases Ayurveda’s Role in Complementary Medicine on Ayurveda Day

The Embassy of India in Egypt celebrated Ayurveda Day with a dedicated program highlighting the rising importance of complementary medicine in preventive and holistic healthcare.

The event featured a distinguished panel including H.E. Mr. Suresh K. Reddy, Ambassador of India to Egypt, Prof. Aliaa Elgendy, Head of the Complementary Medicine Department at Egypt’s National Research Centre, Prof. Mohamed Elshennawi, President of Galala National University, and Dr. Prakash, Cultural Director at the Embassy of India in Egypt.

In his keynote address, Ambassador Reddy emphasized India’s systematic process of education and licensing for Ayurveda practitioners, ensuring scientific rigor and credibility. He noted how millions benefited from Ayurvedic practices during the COVID-19 pandemic, underlining its role as a reliable and complementary system of medicine.

The event also connected the Egyptian audience with leading Ayurvedic doctors in India through live video conferencing powered by Sushain, a pioneering digital platform for Ayurveda. Experts elaborated on the scientific foundations of Ayurveda, explained Panchkarma therapies, and answered participants’ questions—helping to dispel misconceptions and showcase Ayurveda’s relevance as a trusted complementary healthcare system.

Sushain, which currently features over 25,000 authentic Ayurvedic products from verified manufacturers and a network of more than 2,000 certified doctors for telemedicine consultations, played a central role in the event.

Speaking at the program, Vikram Singh Parmar, Founder of Sushain, said:
“Ayurveda’s global journey depends on trust and authenticity. By leveraging technology to connect expert doctors directly with people, we are making Ayurveda accessible, scientific, and interactive. This initiative is not just about awareness; it is about building confidence in Ayurveda as an essential part of modern complementary healthcare.”

The strong participation and engagement at the celebration reaffirmed Ayurveda’s growing potential in shaping the future of preventive healthcare in Egypt and beyond.
